Dreaming of...

... traveling. Somewhere. Anywhere. Well... not anywhere, somewhere wonderful and romantic. It has been a long time since the mister and I have been any distance from the bay alone together. I want to buy some magazines, peach rings, and get on an airplane with my travel blanket. I have heard good things about Belize... Any other recommendations?

... a Kitchen Aid Mixer. Really any Kitchen Aid would do, but ever since I saw this one I have been drooling a little bit, not a great side effect in public. I would decorate an entire future kitchen with this as the inspiration!

{source}

...cuter bike bags. Don't get me wrong, mine are highly functional and I love functional, but there is something about cute/stylish/something you really like that cannot always be resisted...

... outdoor dining. Despite the fact that the gorgeous weekend we experienced last week was quickly followed by potential snowfall in the Bay Area, it still set my heart a flutter for an outdoor dinner.

Day 22: 30 for 30

Outfit =
Navy Sweater: H&M
Coral V-Neck: Target
Skinny Jeans: Levi's
Black Boots: Blowfish
Necklace: Pick Up Sticks Jewelry

New outfit to match a new haircut. I can't help but wonder what people will say as I walk down the halls with a new look. One of the best and most challenging things about kids is their lack of a filter. Word in the hallway is that the bangs work... relief...

Bookshelves: Living Room Update

The power of a can of paint and the rearrangement of stuff... I cannot tell a lie, it also involved the amazing power of Mr. Smyth's painting skills on his day off. The gray has covered a green that was not doing the room any favors. Rearranging the books by color also gave the bookshelf order and place for the eye to rest. One more step toward a dreamy living room.

Hair! What should I do?

Option 1

Option 2

Option 3

Option 4

I have a haircut scheduled for Tuesday. This grand event doesn't happen as often as it probably should, hence it is always a big game decision. My tendency is always to go for a change, but then I often end up sad that my long hair is gone or I get frustrated with the new level of maintenance. This time I am enlisting your help. What look are you vibing?

Table is set! Some of my dearest friends are coming for dinner tonight. Friends, food, good conversation, is there really anything better than that?

Now the interesting part of 30 for 30 begins. I've gotten to the point where I have worn most of my allotted items in the ways that I usually do. I am realizing now that when you limit yourself to a set of clothing, you do become more creative. Interesting how some things require necessity to be accomplished...

Happy belated Valentine's Day!

Day 10 & 11: 30 for 30

Outfit=
Yellow Cardigan: Nordstroms Rack
Embellished Tank: Anthropologie
Skinny Jeans: Levi's
Teal Flats: Born

Color can be fun. For a long time color was too hard to figure out, but lately I have been feeling more creative with my wardrobe. Yellow is definitely a favorite.

Outfit=
Blazer: Nordstroms Rack
Plaid Button-Down: Gap
Skinny Jeans: Levi's
Oxfords: Miz Mooz

You have to LOVE a blazer that fits well. This has always been challenging for me. I have those sexy, come hither, football linebacker shoulders, which honestly I do love. The difficulty is finding jackets that allow room for them. This jacket I found years ago at Nordstroms Rack and has been a go-to every since.

We made it to Friday! Have a great weekend!

Day 9: 30 for 30

Outfit =
Cowl: Made by Mr. Smyth
Purple Sweater: Moving Sale
Skinny Jeans: Levis
Tall Socks: Free People
Black Boots: Blowfish

The purple sweater is back! It was the first day for my cozy cowl and black boots. Very fun.

It is Wednesday, but I cannot wait for the weekend. Sports are my addiction and I have two hockey games this weekend. I also will be hoping to finish some projects as I am finally back home. So much to look forward to.

Looking forward to anything?

Day 8: 30 for 30

A day doesn't start much better than today did. I slept in a little longer than usual, I was taken to breakfast by a handsome man, and I even had a couple photos snapped in the process. Mr. Smyth has been genuinely enthusiastic about capturing my 30 for 30 experience and it is kinda adorable. I'm not always at ease in front of the camera, but he has been making it an entertaining experience. There were many, many comments on my lack of glasses. I don't do it often, but every once in awhile contacts are a fun change up.

Outfit =
Dress: Anthropologie
Belt: Anthropologie
Leggings: Hue
Teal Flats: Born

Hope your days are getting off to good starts too...

Dreaming of...

... an upholstered ottoman to spice up the living room coffee table situation. I love the print of the one above.

... taking an Urban Homesteading 101 class. Something about pickling fresh veggies and making my own marmalade sounds satisfying.

... owning a Copenhagen bike some day. Oh they are beautiful. The models to carry kids are classic!

... our upcoming teardrop trailer trip. I booked it today. Three nights in beautiful Bodega Bay and the fulfillment of one of my lingering daydreams!

... spending some quality time with my hubby. I know the whole wrap about the commercialism of Valentines Day, but we use it as an excuse to do something nice for each other. Most importantly, we carve out time from our busy lives to focus on nothing else, but one another. Important to do every once in awhile.

... getting grounded again. Cleaning up the house. Sleeping in. Going grocery shopping. Feeling rooted, calm, and collected. Its been too long since I landed and settled for a little while.

Day 5 & 6 & 7: 30 for 30

Outfit =
Dress: Moving Sale (Thanks Jill!)
to see full dress see 30 Items for 30 Days post
Sweater: Moving Sale
Headband: Jeremy's Department Store
Teal Flats: Born

It starts to feel funny when you don't go home for awhile. We got back from a wonderful field trip where Mr. Smyth himself helped out as a chaperone. The respite was short lived as we spent the evening packing for a weekend away with the family. I started the weekend off using a colorful dress as a skirt. Somehow having thirty items to pick from makes packing and getting dressed so simple.

Black Lace Top: Moving Sale

Outfit =
Black & Gray Top: Target
Black Jeans: Levis

Have a great week!

On my way to a 3 day fieldtrip...

30 for 30: Day 2 (...and 3 ...and 4)

This picture was snapped by the wonderful Mr. Smyth as I was running late, and a little disheveled, to a three day overnight field trip with my fabulous fourth and fifth graders. So this is the outfit I started in for my three day marathon. In the beginning I thought it would be a cinch to get one picture a day while on a little trip with 110 students. Sadly, although I had fabulous items in my 30 for 30 to wear during this hiking filled trip, I couldn't find three seconds to get in front of the lens. I am contemplating a reenactment. We'll see what happens.
